Bergenfield Restocks Personal Protective Equipment with Donations from Bergen County, Local Residents and Businesses

BERGENFIELD, N.J. — The Borough of Bergenfield continues to restock its supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with direct purchases as well as the help of donations from Bergen County, residents and local businesses. The Borough has been aggressively tackling this public health crisis since day one and was well prepared with the proper emergency response supplies for first responders and other borough employees to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The need for personal protective equipment has never been greater in our communities, but with proper emergency planning and the generous donations we have so far been able to keep up with the need for PPE,” said Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Ryan Shell. “The Office of Emergency Management is working diligently to ensure protective equipment is properly and evenly distributed to our first responders and essential Borough personnel. “With severe shortages of protective equipment worldwide, we are grateful for the life saving donations we continue to receive from the County and local residents to ensure Bergenfield’s frontline workers have the necessary resources to stay safe throughout the remainder of this pandemic.”

Today alone, Bergenfield received 100 N95 masks, 200 surgical masks, four reusable hard face shields, six boxes of gloves, a Sun Joe Electric Sprayer and one gallon of Bioesque General Sanitizing solution. However, there could soon be a need for additional supplies, specifically N95 masks and hospital gowns for EMS workers. With a higher volume of medical calls coming in each day, EMTs require the use of additional PPE per shift now more than in the early stages of the outbreak. Bergenfield is continuing to work closely with its mutual aid communities to evenly share its resources and PPE with all first responders so no one goes unprotected.

To donate any PPE, please contact the Office of Emergency management by emailing OEM@bergenfield.com.
