Berkeley Heights Councilwoman Susan Poage Endorses Linda Weber for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th District

Councilwoman Susan Poage, an educator who in 2017 became the first Democrat elected to the Berkeley Heights Township Council in over a decade, has endorsed technology and finance trailblazer Linda Weber for Congress in the 7th District of New Jersey. This endorsement is significant because Union County comprises one of the largest shares of the Democratic vote in the district.

“I proudly endorse Linda Weber for Congress because she has the drive and ability to not only unseat Rep. Leonard Lance in November, but also to serve CD7 as someone who cares about and understands the causes of the people who live in the district,” stated Berkeley Heights Councilwoman Susan Poage. “Linda has lived in the 7th District for years and has raised her family here. She has been a committed member of the community as a volunteer and involved with local politics. Linda went door-to-door in support of our local and state candidates, and she has tirelessly worked for progressive causes her entire life. Linda is smart and passionate and ready to lead our district in the right direction for the future.”

“I am truly honored to have the endorsement of Councilwoman Poage; she is a well-respected and long-time leader in our community,” stated Linda Weber. “From the refusal to reform our nation’s gun laws to this shameful tax bill that will raise taxes on middle and working-class families in New Jersey, we’re seeing firsthand why it is so important to have representation in Congress that is willing and able to stand up for the needs of the 7th District and for New Jersey. Unfortunately, Rep. Leonard Lance, who votes with Donald Trump nearly 90% of the time, does not represent our values. The 7th District is where my husband and I chose to raise our children and have served our community, and I am committed to continuing to fight for the families here.”

Linda has also been endorsed by the Somerset County Democratic Committee, the Essex County Democratic Committee, and 25 of New Jersey’s most influential women leaders including Myra Terry, founder of Emerge New Jersey and former NOW New Jersey President. Her other endorsements include: Richard Sun, former Summit Councilman-At-Large; Ted Romankow, former Union County prosecutor and former Mayor of Berkeley Heights; and the Network for Public Education Action and its founder, Diane Ravitch, a former United States Assistant Secretary of Education and a leading education policy expert.
