As of March 13, 2020, I am closing municipal buildings to the public until further notice. The administration staff consisting of the Clerk, Finance, Township Administrator, Tax Assessor, Engineering, Department of Public Works, Sewer, and Construction will continue to work inside the building. Residents will be encouraged to use online tools, forms and payment systems. The Library will also be closed, and Recreation programs will be terminated at the close of business March 13, 2020. Events in public spaces of more than 50 people will be suspended until further notice. This is in an effort to prevent unnecessary contact at this time.

We are working to institute staggered shifts for police department, public works and sewer department to ensure that essential services can continue. The health of our employees and residents is paramount.

BH Police Athletic League and soccer programs have also been suspended until further notice but will be reevaluated on March 24, 2020. Our Office of Emergency Management Director is in contact with our senior population and I have suspended senior bus and meetings indefinitely. At this time, Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Summit and Watchung schools districts have decided to close.

At this point, we must exercise an abundance of caution since the COVID-19 developments evolve daily. I would like to thank my OEM team, Chief Padovano, Chief DiPasquale, Captain Deitch, Deputy OEM Director Cuocci, EMS Chief Sternberg and Administrator Viana for their endless dedication over the last 5 days.
