BLACK CANNABIS EQUITY INITIATIVE(BCEI) & MINORITIES FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA(M4MM)

DENVER —National social equity advocate John Bailey, Founder of the Black Cannabis Equity Initiative (BCEI) and Roz McCarthy, Founder & CEO, Minorities for Medical Marijuana(M4MM) announced today that they will collaborate once again on a national social equity zoom discussion to continue advancing the needle on social equity in United States by bringing authentic transparency, awareness, accountability and opportunity to the social equity conversation. These Black cannabis leaders will co-sponsor this annual one day national pre-420 social equity zoom entitled “No Seat At The Table, Bring A Folding Chair” on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 10:00am-4:00pm(MST). The purpose of the annual Pre 420 national social equity zoom discussion is to continue to bring stakeholders to the table to lift up more voices and accelerate the social equity conversation and journey that needs to happen in America.

This virtual conversation will look at social equity policy and what we have learned in legal adult use states, will engage national industry leaders and social equity advocates on challenges, choices and opportunities in the cannabis space, hear concerns from Black women and social equity applicants as well as hot topics that include: Safe Banking, Access To Capital, Hemp, Reparations, Expungement, Delivery, Consumption Lounges and more.

BCEI Director John Bailey, who is coordinating this virtual conversation said, “this national Pre 420 social equity discussion is an acknowledgement that as policies for new social equity licenses in cannabis legal states evolve, they present a rare and limited opportunity to make real progress by providing local municipal governments and states a Black community perspective and a framework for community input from which social equity applicants can access these opportunities and the necessary guidance and technical assistance to increase their ability to be successful cannabis businesses.” Bailey went on further to say, “in order to create and be a successful cannabis businesses, our communities, businesses and social equity applicants must be united around a consistent social equity message. There is a lot of discussion and dialogue going on around social equity, but no clear definition or shared best practices or examples. BCEI and M4MM will take the lead role in bringing the Black community and stakeholders together on social equity clarity, social equity definitions and moving the dialogue forward as we all navigate this social equity pathway in the cannabis industry in the US. This national social equity event will mobilize and engage industry leaders, elected officials and concerned citizens in a collaborative social equity dialogue. This cannabis social equity dialogue will attempt to bring and keep the social equity conversation at the forefront of the current cannabis industry agenda as we take a broader look at how we define, hold one another accountable, and measure social equity.” Anyone wanting more information can contact John Bailey at 720-629-0964 or johnbailey062@gmail.com.
