Bogota, NJ Independent Candidates announce their candidacy for Mayor & Council seats in 2019
General Election

Bogota, NJ (June 6, 2019) – Jose Chavez (for Mayor), Sherry Solomov (for Council) and Susan Cruz
(for Council) are running as Independents in the Borough of Bogota in the 2019 General Election.

“We are running for public office to make a positive difference and to bring a greater sense of
connection within our community” said Jose Chavez, a financial professional and business owner.
Jose has lived in Bogota with his wife Tanya, and his children Amy and Mathew since 2003.

Sherry Solomov said “I want to do all I can to make our community the best it can be while
remaining an affordable and welcoming place for young people, families, and seniors living on fixed
incomes”. Sherry and her husband Eric own a small business and live in Bogota with their three
young children.

“I was excited to hear that we were building a new recreation/community center that has now been
put on the back-burner indefinitely. We decided to work together to be part of the solution, and to
seek the trust and votes of our neighbors. We have the largest tax burden in Bergen County, yet our
services and facilities are lagging. I believe that by working together with our community we will
make a difference,” said Susan Cruz. Susan has lived in Bogota with her husband Fernando and her
children Lucas and Carmen since 2003. Susan works as a Graphics Design Professional.

Jose, Sherry, and Susan are life-long Democrats that chose to run as Independents to give voters a
real progressive choice. They are representative of the amazing growth and diversity occurring in
Bogota.
