Booker Statement on Biden Administration Support of Legal Challenge to Endangered Species Act Protections for Wolves

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement in response to the Department of Justice brief supporting a rulemaking to remove Endangered Species Act protections from gray wolves.

“I am deeply disappointed that the Department of Justice decided to double down on the Trump administration’s shortsighted wolf delisting rule and pursue an appeal of the district court decision in this matter.

“This appeal is contrary to the Department of Interior’s publicly stated goal to chart a new path forward on wolf management, and undermines trust in the stakeholder engagement process the agency recently announced. I hope that the circuit court will reject this attempt to reinstate the delisting decision.”
