Booker Statement on Senate Passage of Take it Down Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Today, U.S. Senator Cory Booker issued the following statement:

“The sharing of nonconsensual explicit images online is a serious and urgent problem, and we need effective legislation that will thoroughly protect people from harassment, hold wrongdoers accountable, and compel online platforms to quickly remove such content. I’m glad that the original sponsors agreed to the improvements I proposed to the bill and that it has passed the Senate through unanimous consent. This new version will ensure that victims are better protected and all platforms that publish these sorts of images are held to account under the law. I hope the bill will swiftly pass in the House and be signed into law.”
