Booker Statement on the Passing of Newark Native Philip Roth

Washington, DC – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement:

“Philip Roth will be remembered as one of America’s greatest literary minds, infusing his work with characters and themes drawn from his experiences growing up and living in Newark. Roth was fearless, never hesitating to push the envelope of literature or wrestle with some of the most complex and challenging social questions of our time. He will be missed, and rightfully remembered as a New Jersey treasure. My prayers are with his loved ones as they mourn his loss and celebrate his incredible life.”
