Booker Statement on Passing of Senator Jim Whelan

NEWARK, NJ – U.S. Senator Cory Booker issued the following statement on the passing of State Senator Jim Whelan:

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Jim Whelan. New Jersey has lost a true leader and life-long public servant. Senator Whelan committed his entire life to serving the people of New Jersey. As a teacher, coach, councilman, mayor and member of the New Jersey Legislature, Jim always served with dignity and professionalism and I was honored to call him a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Senator Whelan’s family, friends and colleagues as we mourn his tragic loss.”
