Brady PAC Endorses Governor Phil Murphy for Reelection in New Jersey’s Gubernatorial Race

Failure to reelect Murphy would rollback years of progress on gun-violence-prevention

WASHINGTON — On Monday, September 27th, Brady PAC, the sister organization of Brady, the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention advocacy group, announced their endorsement for the reelection of Governor Phil Murphy in New Jersey.

Gov. Murphy has been a proven gun violence prevention champion since he took office in 2018, taking meaningful action to expand background checks, ban large capacity magazines, and enact a life saving extreme risk protection order (ERPO).

“Elections matter, and the choice for New Jersey could not be more clear,” said Ashley Lantz, Political Director of Brady PAC. “Governor Murphy has been an unwavering advocate for gun violence prevention. He has proven himself to be someone who keeps his word by taking decisive action to make his state a national leader in common-sense gun safety. We are proud to stand by Governor Murphy, just as he has stood by Garden State families, and endorse him for reelection as the Governor of New Jersey.”

While Gov. Murphy has taken steps to protect New Jersey families from senseless acts of gun violence and reduced his state’s gun death rate to one of the lowest in the country; his opponent, Jack Ciattarelli, has already made it clear that he would prioritize reversing Gov. Murphy’s efforts if elected, including repealing the state’s magazine limits and allowing unfettered access to guns.
