Bramnick: Legislature Trying to Overrule Supreme Court, Turn Gun Owners Into Criminals

Senator Jon Bramnick said new gun legislation under consideration by the New Jersey Legislature goes too far in trying to restrict gun rights with serious potential consequences for law-abiding citizens:

“The Legislature is attempting to overrule the U.S. Supreme Court through legislation that would turn legal gun owners into criminals,” said Bramnick (R-21). “I’m concerned that simple mistakes could turn law-abiding people into criminals if they accidentally carry their firearm for protection in any of the many places prohibited by the bill, including parks, transit facilities, and college campuses. People might not realize they would be prohibited from carrying on private property without the owner’s consent, which could inadvertently turn renters into criminals in their own homes. If this bill becomes law, too many good people will find themselves on the wrong side of the law.”
