Bridgewater Township Awarded $404,652 Grant for Roadway Improvements

Bridgewater Township, New Jersey – Bridgewater Township has announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has approved a grant of $404,652 to Bridgewater Township. This grant is dedicated to supporting vital infrastructure improvements to over 1.3 miles of local roadways including Plymouth Road, Ryan Way, and Jeffrey Lane.

“I would like to thank our dedicated Township staff for their successful pursuit of this grant opportunity,” said Mayor Matthew Moench. “The three roads at the center of this year’s grant are used by over 60 families and these improvements will not only enhance the safety of the roadways but also contribute to the overall quality of life for those residents. This project will also improve the connectivity with the neighboring Crim School ensuring a safe route to and from school for neighborhood students. Improving local infrastructure has been a priority of mine since taking office. The Township Council and I have overseen the funding of over 200 roads in the last four years and while we continue to push for safety and functionality improvements all over town, it is critical to find funding sources like these to defray the cost to our taxpayers.”

This grant falls under the same program that has previously financed and facilitated roadway improvements on several other key thoroughfares in the township, including Foxcroft Road, Spring Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Road, and Stony Brook Drive. Since 2020, the Township has been successful in obtaining over $1.8 million dollars of grant monies for roadway projects throughout the Township. The successful completion of these projects underscores the commitment of both Bridgewater Township and the NJDOT to ensuring high-quality road networks that meet the evolving needs of the community.

The allocated funds will be utilized to implement essential upgrades to Plymouth Road, Ryan Way, and Jeffrey Lane, focusing on maintenance and protection of traffic, upgrades to the existing stormwater facilities, select areas of new curb and sidewalk, upgrades to accessible routes and ramps, and substantial pavement repairs and resurfacing.
