Bridgewater Township Food Drive Collects 1.5 Tons of Donations

Bridgewater, NJ – The Township of Bridgewater in partnership with the Bridgewater United Soccer Club recently completed a Food Drive to benefit the Food Bank Network of Somerset County. The Drive was held from Wednesday, May 12th to Sunday May 16th and donations were collected at the Municipal Complex.

During the four day Food Drive, Bridgewater residents dropped off nearly one and a half tons (or nearly 3000 lbs.) of needed food and household supply items which were delivered by the Township’s Department of Public Works.

Councilman Michael Kirsh, who spearheaded this initiative after touring the Food Bank’s new warehouse location in Bridgewater, helped to drop off the last batch of donations this morning.

“It was so heartening to see the tremendous response to this Food Drive from our community,” said Councilman Kirsh. “Bridgewater has always been a place where people care about their neighbors in need and the success of this Drive is just another tangible example of that generosity. I would like to thank all the kids, parents and coaches from the Bridgewater United Soccer Club, our dedicated Township Public Works and Recreation staff and all the individual residents who heard the call and made the time to drop off a donation. As the effects of the pandemic continue to wane, we all must remember that there are still so many people in need and those who can help have a responsibility to do so.”
