Bucco Applauds Opening of CCM’s Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Center

Says New Facility Will Assist With Workforce Development & Boost NJ Economy

Senator Anthony M. Bucco said the new Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center at the County College of Morris (CCM) will provide both students and workers with advanced technical skills that are in demand by industry and keep high-paying jobs from leaving New Jersey.

“We’ve heard repeatedly from major employers that they can’t find enough qualified workers to fill skilled technical jobs in New Jersey,” said Bucco (R-25). “I’m glad to see CCM making an investment in its new Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center, which will provide both students and experienced workers the opportunity to learn the skills that are in high demand by industry. By ensuring this pipeline of talent, we can prevent high-paying research and manufacturing jobs from being moved out of New Jersey.”

Bucco joined CCM for a virtual grand opening of the new state-of-the-art facility this morning.

The Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center (AMEC) constructed to address industry’s growing demand for skilled professionals and access to advanced training and conferencing abilities.

According to CCM, AMEC houses numerous labs with the latest equipment and machinery, including a high-tech conference room where industry officials and their employees can meet virtually with their national and global partners.

The facility will allow CCM to develop new in-demand programs such as robotics. The $11 million 31,500-square foot facility was constructed with state, county and private funding.

“Workforce development efforts like this at CCM will help us to support high-tech research and manufacturing in New Jersey and give a major boost to our economy,” added Bucco. “It’s not just an investment in a facility, it’s an investment in our Morris County families and their future.”
