June 19, 2020

Dear Governor Murphy,

I am writing to request that you clarify whether museums are allowed to reopen. To date, they have not been given explicit authorization to do so, leading to much confusion.

While “Museums/libraries” were listed together in your Stage 2 announcement on June 1st, museums were not mentioned in Administrative Order No. 2020-15, issued on June 13th, which explicitly authorized libraries to open on June 15th.

It does not make sense to require museums to remain closed when other indoor venues, including retail stores and malls, have been allowed to reopen subject to restrictions, and indoor gatherings have been permitted.

Please advise on this matter at your earliest convenience. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Senator Anthony M. Bucco
25th Legislative District
