Senator Anthony Bucco’s (R-25) legislation to help small businesses cut through government red tape has passed Senate Economic Growth Committee.

“As a small business owner, I’ve dealt with unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles that prevent New Jersey’s ‘mom and pop shops’ from flourishing,” Bucco said. “Onerous rules and regulations that violate our state’s ‘Regulatory Flexibility Act’ should rightly be disputed by small business owners. Empowering our state’s entrepreneurs and job creators will incentivize local economies and revitalize Main Streets in every corner of New Jersey.”

Bucco’s bipartisan bill, S-2345, gives small business the right to challenge a rule that appears to violate the terms of the New Jersey Regulatory Flexibility Act.

This act requires that whenever a state agency develops or proposes rules they should take into consideration the effect that rule will have on small businesses and make accommodations to address such issues.

“This legislation allows small business owners to have greater control of their destiny, making government less burdensome and the economy more competitive,” Bucco added. “Let’s make the Garden State a more welcoming place to start and grow a business.”
