BUCCO, CORRADO BILL TO ELIMINATE SPECIAL LICENSE PLATE FEES FOR FIREFIGHTERS, FIRST AID, RESCUE SQUADS PASSES COMMITTEE

Today, the Senate Transportation Committee passed a bill sponsored by Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) and Senator Kristin M. Corrado (R-40) to eliminate fees for special license plates issued to firefighters and members of first aid or rescue squads.

The legislation, S-3366, recognizes the critical contributions of first responders by eliminating the $15 plate fee currently charged by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. These specialty license plates serve as a symbol of pride and service for those who dedicate their time and efforts to protecting New Jersey’s communities.

“We are honored to advance legislation that provides meaningful financial relief to our brave firefighters and first responders, enabling them to display their dedication with pride,” said Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco. “Eliminating this fee reflects our unwavering support and deep appreciation for the sacrifices they make to keep our communities safe.”

“First responders put their lives on the line every day, often as volunteers, to ensure the safety and well-being of others,” said Senator Kristin M. Corrado. “Removing this financial burden is a small but important way we can show our gratitude for their dedication and service.”
