(Boonton, NJ) – The campaigns of Senator Anthony Bucco (R-25) and Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-25) today announced the endorsement of the NJEA, representing over thousands of teachers and education professionals across the 25th Legislative District.
“Senator Bucco is a good friend of public education. His experience is invaluable and his leadership is clear on the key issues facing school children and educators. Parents and educators know they can rely on Sen.Bucco to always be fighting for them on the issues that are important in education today.”- Marie Blistan NJEA President
Last year, Bucco opposed state funding cuts to districts including Randolph, Washington Township, Roxbury, West Morris Regional, Morris School District and Mine Hill. He also advanced a number of school safety bills, including Class 3 Officers legislation and a law-enforcement backed staff training program to identify threatening behavior before violence occurs in schools. He also co-sponsored Chapter 78 reform legislation that restored paycheck cuts for teachers.
“I’m proud to have the endorsement of the NJEA and the teachers across my district, which confirms the efforts I’ve made to work across the aisle to protect our local schools and education professionals. There is no doubt that COVID-19 will change the landscape of education for the foreseeable future; I am fully committed to working with our educators at this pivotal moment to provide high quality education while keeping our kids and teachers safe.”-Senator Anthony Bucco
“In her short time in Trenton, Aura Dunn has proven to be a strong advocate for public education, children and parents. She deserves re-election to continue the important work she has begun.”-Marie Blistan NJEA President
Assemblywoman Aura Dunn, who is also on the ballot this Fall after winning a special convention to fill the legislative vacancy earlier this year, was proud to release her first endorsement of the Fall campaign.
“New Jersey has some of the best schools in the nation, thanks to high quality, professional education professionals that serve our students and prepare our future. I look forward to continuing to work with the NJEA as we navigate the distance-learning and safety challenges presented by COVID-19.”- Assemblywoman Aura Dunn
The Bucco-Dunn endorsement by the NJEA is an early victory over the two Democratic challengers in the 25th District, who also vied for the Association’s endorsement.
