Bucco & Schepisi: Murphy Doubling Down on Energy Master Plan with Guhl-Sadovy

Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco and Senator Holly Schepisi criticized Governor Murphy for choosing Board of Public Utilities Commissioner Christine Guhl-Sadovy to serve as the board’s President.

“It is deeply troubling that Governor Murphy is doubling down on his unpopular and extreme energy master plan. Christine’s predetermined views on New Jersey’s energy policies are a red flag for anyone paying attention to the rising cost of energy,” Bucco said (R-25). “She is an architect of the extreme 2019 energy master plan and spearheaded much of the Murphy agenda on energy. New Jersey cannot afford to be doubling down on Governor Murphy’s misguided energy priorities with a rubber stamp at the BPU.”

Senate Republicans questioned Christine Guhl-Sadovy’s record on offshore wind and the electrification of the State during her confirmation hearings to serve as Commissioner of the BPU earlier in the year.

“Governor Murphy has a history of making poor judgement calls but choosing Guhl-Sadovy to serve as BPU president is one of his more insane decisions. Not only did she call the extreme energy master plan a visionary document, but she was also one of the architects,” said Schepisi (R-39). “Her activist record speaks for itself as someone who is more concerned about forcefully electrifying the state than the impacts those decisions will have on working families. She barely had enough votes to get confirmed as a commissioner on the BPU, yet Governor Murphy thinks she’s the best choice to oversee the State’s energy priorities. It’s clear that he’s doubling down on his ill-fated energy plans.”
