Bucco Statement on Helmy Senate Appointment

Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) released the following statement regarding Governor Murphy’s appointment of George Helmy to the U.S. Senate:

“George Helmy is not only a trusted and well-respected leader, he’s also a proven public servant who I consider a good friend and an even better man,” said Sen. Bucco. “I applaud the Governor’s decision to follow the tradition of appointing a placeholder and letting the voters have their say this November in a fair and honest election without tipping the scales in anyone’s favor. New Jerseyans are in good hands with George in D.C.”

Senator Bucco twice called on Governor Murphy to appoint a placeholder to the U.S. Senate as to not put his thumb on the scale of the 2024 U.S. Senate election following the resignation of Bob Menendez.
