Burlington County Commissioners release statement on the passing of Louise Calloway, founder of the Underground Railroad Museum of Burlington County

The Burlington County Commissioners released the following statement on the passing of Louise Calloway, founder and curator of the Underground Railroad Museum of Burlington County:

“Our entire board was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Louise Calloway. As the founder and curator of the Underground Railroad Museum of Burlington County, Louise made it her life’s work and passion to preserve and share the often hidden history of Black Americans’ struggle for freedom and equality both in Burlington County and beyond. Since 2013, Burlington County has proudly provided a home for the Underground Railroad Museum at Historic Smithville Park and we look forward to continuing that partnership and ensuring Louise’s knowledge and legacy lives on and continues to be shared. Our Board express our deepest condolences to Louise’s family, friends and all who were touched by her.”
