Burlington County GOP Endorses Dynamic Slate of Candidates

For Immediate Release

February 26, 2022

Mount Laurel, NJ – Following a thorough vetting process, the Burlington County Republican Screening Committee recommended an outstanding slate of 2022 congressional and county candidates Saturday morning, which the entire county committee

voted unanimously to endorse.

To begin the work now to unseat the incumbent Democrats pushing their radical agenda in Washington, D.C., and Burlington County, the Burlington County Republican Committee backed:

Claire Gustafson in the First Congressional District

Bob Healey in the Third Congressional District

Mike Ditzel for Burlington County Sheriff

Jeff Fortune for Burlington County Commissioner

“The Burlington County Republican Committee has a long history of successfully recruiting and supporting diverse and dynamic candidates for elected office,” said Chairman Sean Earlen. “We’re proud to continue that tradition with a slate that’s ready to take back control of the House of Representatives and give Republicans a seat at the table in Mount Holly.”

U.S. Coast Guard veteran Mike Ditzel of Medford Lakes currently serves as a Lieutenant in the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department. He previously served as Undersheriff and now leads the office’s Warrant Unit and the ground-breaking Hope One program he started that brings addiction and recovery services to those in need. “The Burlington County Sheriff’s Office was once the best in the State, but since the Democrats took over in 2020, it hasn’t been moving in the right direction,” said Ditzel. “As Sheriff, I will restore our reputation among the law enforcement community and bring back many of the community outreach programs that were previously in place.“

Jeff Fortune, a resident of the Lenola section of Moorestown, is a small business owner who understands the struggles faced by South Jersey’s families. A member of the Historical Society of Moorestown, Fortune is a former Board of Education member with a record of holding the line on taxes. “Burlington County needs a fresh perspective on the Board of Commissioners that won’t be just another rubber stamp for higher taxes, backroom deals, or putting politics ahead of people,” Fortune said. “I have experience in winning tough elections and can’t wait to get to Mount Holly with our next Sheriff, Mike Ditzel, to restore a voice of reason to our County government.”

Earlen noted that Bob Healey is the exact right candidate for what will be one of the most competitive races in the country. “By nominating a successful businessman and philanthropist like Bob Healey, we can start bringing common sense back to our nation’s capital and be a check-and-balance on this failed president,” said Earlen. “Unlike Andy Kim, Bob is no DC insider. From running a business that employs over 1,600 people in South Jersey; to leading charities that work with at-risk youth in Burlington County, and women and children in Sierra Leone, Bob knows how to meet vital needs both home and abroad.”

As the First Congressional District candidate, Claire Gustafson will look to unseat Congressman Donald Norcross. “Claire Gustafson will take the fight to the Camden County Democrat Machine,” said Earlen. “And we know she will work hard to ensure Republican victories up and down the ballot.”
