Burzichelli on Reports of Doping in Horse Racing Industry
Three New Jersey Trainers Charged in Widespread Scheme
(TRENTON) – In response to reports of three New Jersey horse trainers charged for allegedly doping racehorses, Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D-Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem) released the following statement:
“I read with great concern the article today in the Asbury Park Press regarding allegations of widespread doping in the horse racing industry. The charges brought against these horse trainers – all high-profile leaders in the profession – are deeply troubling.
“I am calling on the New Jersey Racing Commission to vigorously investigate the allegations and identify exactly what occurred. We want to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to ensure the integrity of wagering in New Jersey’s horse racing industry, as well as the safety of all horses involved.”
