Burzichelli on School Funding: ‘We Have a lot of Work to Do’

(TRENTON) – Assembly Appropriations Chairman John Burzichelli (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) released the following statement after Wednesday’s Assembly budget public hearing:

The heartfelt concern we heard today from school officials regarding school funding hits home.

“I share their worry, and am disappointed. We worked hard last year to make improvements to school funding, and I hoped for more of that in this year’s budget. We need fairness for all schools. We need fairness for all taxpayers. We need fairness for all children.

“I cannot accept the school funding as proposed in this budget plan, but I also know the budget plan as presented is not the final document. We have a lot of work to do.”
