In a statement, CAIR-NJ Executive Director Selaedin Maksut said:

“Language is important. Language can shape the way we understand our world. Language that unequivocally condemns Islamophobia and anti-Muslim bigotry is essential in a time when Muslims are demonized for their faith.

“Bigotry has no place anywhere, let alone a city as diverse as Jersey City, a municipality home to a large and diverse Muslim community. Discrimination and hate crimes targeting all marginalized peoples must be fought fiercely with resolutions such as this one. I hope other New Jersey cities and towns follow suit.”

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
