CAMDEN COUNTY DEMOCRATS ENDORSE STEVE SWEENEY FOR GOVERNOR
Woodbury, NJ – Today, the Camden County Democratic Committee overwhelmingly endorsed Steve Sweeney for Governor of New Jersey, marking another major victory this convention season. Camden County Democrats threw their support behind Steve for his longstanding advocacy, his championing of the county’s economic growth, and his promise to improve the quality of life for Camden’s workers and families.
This endorsement marks Steve’s sixth of the Democratic primary season, following those from Gloucester, Atlantic, Burlington, Cumberland, and Salem counties.
Steve Sweeney issued the following statement:
“Having been born and raised in Pennsauken, I’m grateful for the Camden County Democrats’ support. Camden is where I started out as a union Ironworker, and throughout my career, I’ve worked with the county to deliver big wins: securing South Jersey’s fair share of state business incentives leading to Camden Waterfront redevelopment with companies like Holtect and American Water, supporting the Camden Housing Initiative to help the chronically homeless, keeping Subaru and Campbell’s in Camden, and pushing for the Route 295/42/I-76 Direct Connect to reduce traffic.
“Now more than ever, Democrats need a strong leader who knows how to get things done and a fighter to stand up to Washington’s threats to cut Social Security and Medicaid. I’ll work tirelessly to make life better for workers, seniors, and families, and Camden’s support brings us closer to a brighter future for New Jersey.”
