Camden County Sheriff Gilbert “Whip” Wilson and Camden City Councilman Angel Fuentes praise Camden Mayor Frank Moran’s decades of service to the City; Endorse City Councilman Vic Carstarphen for Mayor of Camden

(Camden, NJ) – Saying Camden is on the rise thanks to the decades of leadership provided by Camden Mayor Francisco A. “Frank” Moran, today Camden County Sheriff Gilbert “Whip” Wilson and Camden City Councilman At-Large Angel Fuentes offered praise for Moran on the announcement that Moran will not seek re-election this year due to health concerns. Sheriff Wilson and Councilman Fuentes also offered their enthusiastic support for Ward 2 City Councilman Vic Carstarphen to run for Mayor and called on the entire Camden City Democratic Committee to join them in their endorsement.

“Mayor Moran has been at the forefront of Camden’s many recent successes — from our groundbreaking community policing reforms praised by President Barack Obama and the amazing turnaround of our school system to luring major companies to relocate to the City and employee local residents,” said Councilman-At-Large Fuentes. “We owe a debt of gratitude to Mayor Frank Moran for his dedicated service to the City and wish him all the best.”

Sheriff Wilson added: “Mayor Moran has been a longtime friend and ally. I know I speak for Councilman Fuentes when we say that the continuity of our success requires strong, dynamic leadership. That’s why we enthusiastically endorse Vic Carstarphen for Mayor. Vic has been a leader in our community going back to his high school days when he led the Camden Panthers to two back-to-back state basketball championships. Vic never forgot his roots and has been a terrific mentor to scores of Camden youth as Camden High’s basketball coach. I personally mentored Vic going back to his middle school days and always knew he was destined for greatness. He’s smart, a quick study, true to his word, and a big picture thinker. We couldn’t be prouder to support Vic as we fight to keep the positive momentum in Camden.”
