Candlelight Vigil for Vanessa Guillen, July 9th at 8PM at 1017 Boulevard East, Weehawken, American Legion Post 18.

A candlelight vigil will be held on July 9th at 8pm for Army PFC Vanessa Guillen, who vanished from Fort Hood, Texas, on April 22, 2020 and was never heard from again.

Remains, believed to be those of Guillen, were discovered on July 1st near Leon River in Texas. Guillen’s family and loved ones are currently awaiting the results of DNA testing to confirm the identity of the remains. It is suspected that Specialist Aaron David Robinson murdered her with a hammer inside an armory on the base and then disposed of the body near Leon River with possible help from his girlfriend, Cecily Aguilar. Robinson took his own life on July 1st when approached by police outside the base, while his girlfriend, Aguilar, is currently in custody and facing several charges, including conspiracy to tamper with evidence.

Outrage has grown over time over what many perceive as an inadequate investigation and lack of transparency by investigators and base leadership.
