Canfield Calls for Action on the Campus Protests at Rutgers

BRICK, NJ- Robert Canfield, Republican Gubernatorial Candidate for governor calls on
Governor Murphy to take action against the protests at Rutgers. “Governor Murphy should, at
minimum, send in the State Police to keep order for the rest of the school year and break up the
active protests on campus.”

Rutgers began to experience protests, including an encampment Thursday morning. “Our
schools should have taken steps to prevent this, especially knowing that final exams were
scheduled. They should have coordinated with the state to increase police presence and take
preventative measures to prevent protests from reaching our schools. The administrators, and
others in leadership at Rutgers should resign for not doing their job to keep our campuses and
students safe.”

Clarification Statement from Rutgers: “The Camden campus was never closed, and no final exams or other Camden campus activities were disrupted. The protest activity occurred on the New Brunswick campus.”
