Capital Health with the Hopewell Valley Arts Council Presents,

“Remembering Norma Jean,” Art Opening on April 4, 2019

Capital Health in partnership with the Hopewell Valley Arts Council will present “Remembering Norma Jean: A Retrospective of the Works of Norma Jean (NJ) DeVico.”

The late Norma Jean DeVico, artist, writer and art model, will be the sole exhibiting artist at the Investors Bank Art & Healing Gallery at Capital Health – Hopewell for the first time in the history of our gallery.  The opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 4 from 6 – 7:30 pm and will feature sixty artworks created by DeVico showing her artistic and writing talents, along with her one-of-a-kind humor.  She was a very special person and is missed by all who knew her in her community; she fortunately lives on through her art and now in the upcoming show at Capital Health – Hopewell.

Before her death, DeVico commented, “I have leukemia and I’m happier than when I was healthy. I value every day more than if I thought I’d have a million more.  Plus, my art satisfies me. It’s what I was always supposed to be doing.”

There will be a special performance by the Roxey Ballet Company. Additionally, the Norma Jean DeVico Estate will donate a piece of Norma Jean’s art that will hang at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

The mission of the Arts & Healing Program at Capital Health recognizes that spending time in the hospital can be stressful for all — patients, visitors, caregivers and healthcare workers alike. Art shows held in the Investors Bank Art & Healing Gallery at Capital Health – Hopewell provide visitors a respite from the difficulties of the day by featuring beautiful, engaging and inspirational works of art in its rotating art gallery.  Whereas medicine can heal the body, art can heal the soul.

The public is invited to attend our Opening Reception in the Investors Bank Art & Healing Gallery, located in the second floor atrium at Capital Health – Hopewell, One Capital Way, Pennington, NJ, on Thursday, April 4, from 6 to 7:30 pm.   Light refreshments will be served. The show runs through July, 2019.
