New Exhibit Celebrates “A is for Art, T is for Team”

Pennington, NJ– Capital Health, in partnership with the Hopewell Valley Arts Council, will present “A is for Art, T is for Team” from March 1 to May 21 in the Investors Bank Art & Healing Gallery at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell. Featuring pieces by the Trenton Community A-Team. A non-profit Trenton based organization that supports and develops self-taught artist in the Trenton area. An opening reception will be held on March 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The pieces were purchased with generous funding from the Capital Health Foundation.

Research suggests that art plays an important role in promoting an environment of healing. Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell was specifically designed to promote healing, reduce anxiety, and deliver advanced medical care in a calming, comforting setting. Capital Health involved the local art community in the design of Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell, including 20 local artists participating in creating 400 original prints for patient rooms based on input from staff and with sensitivity to the effects of art in healing. Today, Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell offers its rotating Investors Bank Arts and Healing Gallery to the public to showcase the work of local artists, in partnership with the Hopewell Valley Arts Council.

Capital Health’s Art and Healing Program also provides art programs to comfort patients, caregivers, visitors, and hospital staff. One example is the Healing Hands Mobile Art Program for patients at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell and Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where program volunteers visit patient rooms with a traveling cart containing art supplies for patients to draw, paint, collage, knit and more during their stay. Patients can explore their own creativity and find comfort in the distraction from their illness or injury by completing projects of their choice.
