CAVADAS AND BOWSER, JR. FILE FOR UNION TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE, DEMOCRATS PRAISE PEOPLE, JR.’S SERVICE

UNION TOWNSHIP – Filing with the support of the Union Township Democrat Committee, Suzette Cavadas today filed for re-election along with James Bowser, Jr. to serve on the Union Township Committee.

Bowser, Jr. succeeds Clifton People, Jr. on the Democratic ticket following People, Jr.’s decision to retire from political life.  People, Jr. was the first African American mayor in the history of Union Township.

“Clifton People, Jr. has been an exemplary partner over these many years as we have worked to make Union Township a destination for small businesses and people looking for a safe, affordable home to raise their families,” said Union Township Democratic Chairman Joseph Cryan.  “He not only made history becoming the first African American to ever serve as Mayor in our township, his community involvement and daily dedication to improving Union Township will also leave a legacy that can never be forgotten.  I am thankful for his service, not just to our Democratic Party, but to all the residents of our beautiful township.”

James Bowser, Jr. has been an active participant in moving our community forward for many years.  His extensive experience in managing and implementing processes while also spearheading improvements across three major, distinct industries will bring a new and unique point of view to our Township Committee.

An Industrial Engineer, Bowser, Jr. is also known for devoting his time and energies to create opportunities for all while serving as a member of the Economic Opportunity Program Community Advisory Board for the New Jersey Institute of Technology.  He has also proudly volunteered his time as the Chairman of the Union Township Planning Board to make sure we have smart, strategic planning that benefits our families and small businesses.

Suzette Cavadas currently serves as Union Township’s Deputy Mayor.  As a member of our Township Committee, she has worked hard to attract small businesses to our downtown and was a driving force in working to make sure residents had up to date information and critical resources in the midst of the global pandemic.  The Committeewoman practices Real estate and family law and, as a 25-year resident of Union Township, she and her husband are raising their son and daughter in town.
