TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey Democratic State Committee’s Progressive Caucus has endorsed Chairman John Currie in his re-election bid as the party’s chair. The Caucus, which overwhelmingly voted in support of the endorsement during an organizational meeting on Saturday, credits Chairman Currie and Vice Chair Peg Schaffer with successfully bringing together grassroots activists with party leaders to promote a progressive agenda in New Jersey.

“The continued success and growth of the Democratic Party relies on our ability to work with like minded leaders who are ready to bring meaningful change to our entire state,” said Chairman John Currie. “Because of the relationships we have fostered with grassroots and progressive organizations, we’ve become stronger in our fight to create communities that put the best interests of the people over politics. I’m honored the Progressive Caucus believes in the relationships we have built and I look forward to continuing the good work we have already begun together.”

In an effort to enhance NJDSC’s outreach and invite more participation among grassroots Democrats, Chairman Currie has greatly expanded the party’s caucuses during his time as Chair. Those caucuses now include the following groups: Progressive, LGBTQ, African American, Hispanic, South Asian American, Young Democrats and Veterans.
