Chairman Jones Offers Condolences to NJDSC Executive Director on Passing of Her Father

TRENTON, NJ — New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr., is releasing the following statement offering his condolences to NJDSC Executive Director Saily Avelenda on the death of her father, Avelino E. Avelenda, who passed away this week at the age of 86.

“On behalf of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee as well as my wife Jacqueline and my entire family, I would like to offer my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to our friend and colleague Saily Avelenda on the passing of her father, Avelino. I know from working alongside Saily the last several months how close her family is and how much she loved her Dad, and my heart goes out to her in this difficult time. An immigrant from Cuba who settled in Hudson County after coming to our country, Avelino built a rich, full life for himself here and raised a loving family that is a testament to the wonderful man he was — he truly lived the American Dream, and his memory will not be forgotten.”

In lieu of flowers the Avelenda family asks friends to donate to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
