CHAIRMAN LEROY J. JONES, JR.’S STATEMENT ON MICHAEL ARON
CHAIRMAN LEROY J. JONES, JR.’S STATEMENT ON MICHAEL ARON
TRENTON, NJ: NJDSC Chair LeRoy J. Jones Jr., is releasing the following statement:
Michael Aron was an institution. He was as synonymous with our state government as the Statehouse Golden Dome and there will never be another like him. Michael was a rock star, both in his early days at Rolling Stone and then as the universally acknowledged Dean of the New Jersey press corps. I knew Michael for many years and I always respected his work because of his great attention to detail and his unwavering tenacity to land the story and inform people throughout our great state about the things that would continue to have a long-lasting impact in a way that pushed aside any semblance of tabloid sensationalism.
Just like the thousands of stories he covered and the forums he moderated and the countless shows he hosted in which he broke down even the most complicated budget issues and seemingly arcane legislative details, Michael’s legacy is immeasurable. Michael Aron was a giant who straddled the partisan line effortlessly while covering the critical information that fuels our day to day just as thoroughly and effortlessly as the sometimes sensational stories emanating from our State capital. His influence is only matched by the tremendous respect so many of us had for him, and he will truly be missed.
