Champions for Students Hosts Successful Virtual Town Hall
HACKENSACK, NJ – The Champions for Students team running for Hackensack Board of Education, Jennifer Maury, David W. Dungey, and Monica Pelaez, hosted a well-attended virtual Town Hall on Thursday evening. The stream was attended by over 250 people and has been watched by more than 900. It remains available on the team’s Facebook page: Facebook.com/ChampionsForStudents.
“This is a very difficult time for many families in our community,” noted Jennifer Maury. “We’re incredibly thankful to our teachers, administrators, and support professionals for all of the continued instruction and support they are providing to our students.”
The Town Hall covered a wide-range of subjects, from the candidates’ qualifications, to questions about changing culture and increasing academic rigor. The public was able to submit questions via comments on the live stream.
“In these unusual times, this is one way to reach out to voters and answer questions,” stated Monica Pelaez. “We know this is a tough time and respect all that everyone is going through. We hope every Hackensack voter will get a chance to watch before voting because our schools are such a critical part of our community.”
The election has been moved to May 12th by Governor Murphy.
“Everyone will receive a ballot,” said David Dungey. “Make sure to fill it out and put it in the mail before May 9th. We do not know when the ballots will be mailed, but expect to know shortly. Every household can have a distance learning civics lesson – voting by mail.”
