CHATHAM MOMS FOR CHANGE ENDORSES MIKIE SHERRILL FOR CONGRESS

Fairfield, NJ — Following a successful Facebook Live event on Wednesday, April 18, Chatham Moms for Change endorsed Democratic candidate Mikie Sherrill in her bid to represent the 11th District of New Jersey in Congress.

“We started Chatham Moms for Change out of a concern for the future of our country and how we could get involved in our political system,” said Co-Founder Kellie Doucette. “Those are the same concerns that drove Mikie Sherrill to run for Congress. Our members are supporting Mikie because, since she announced her campaign last summer, she has made herself accessible to residents, answered questions, and proposed ideas for moving New Jersey forward.”

“I thought I knew about Mikie and her race, but after hosting her at our Facebook Live last week, I am more convinced than ever that Mikie Sherrill is the leader we need to represent us in Washington,’ said Co-Founder Jen McNally. “Her background as a prosecutor and Navy helicopter pilot, combined with her deep knowledge on the issues that impact us, makes it clear she is the best candidate to win the primary in June, and take this seat in November.”

Mikie Sherrill responded to the endorsement: “I always say that our community is the epicenter of grassroots energy in America. Chatham Moms for Change is the perfect example of how residents have organized, and demanded better leadership at all levels of government. As a mother of four concerned about the future, I believe we can all do more to build a better community for the next generation. I am glad to partner with Chatham Moms for Change in that pursuit.”

Since forming in September 2016, Chatham Moms for Change has engaged their membership on political issues at the local and the national level. With almost 800 members, the group is committed to organizing information sessions and events around issues of concern to the community like gun safety and the value of diversity, as well as participating in community service projects and marches. Members spent hundreds of volunteer hours supporting democratic political campaigns in 2017, and will continue that outreach during the 2018 election cycle.
