Codey Statement on the Passing of Senator Whelan

Trenton – Senator and former Governor Richard J. Codey issued the following statement today on the passing of Senator Jim Whelan:

“It was always a pleasure dealing with Senator Whelan and I had the honor to know him and to work with him while he was Mayor, Assemblyman and Senator. He had a strong work ethic and cared deeply about Atlantic City and its residents. When he came to the Senate, we became good friends. The Senate has lost a true gentleman as has the state. We will miss him, but his legacy will live on.

“I offer my condolences to his family and his friends."
