College Democrats at Rowan University Host Pre-Debate Rally for Governor Murphy

[October 11th, 2021] This Tuesday, October 12th, Rowan University will be welcoming Governor Phil Murphy and Republican opponent Jack Ciattarelli to campus for the second Gubernatorial debate.

Students involved with the Rowan chapter of College Democrats are holding a rally at 6:15 p.m. to show youth and student support for the Governor in his re-election efforts.

“This is an awesome opportunity for Rowan students to demonstrate our support for Governor Murphy,” College Democrats at Rowan President, Anna Bray, said. “The impact young voters can have when we mobilize can determine this election’s results”

Governor Murphy has kept many campaign promises, including making community college free. On February 26th, 2021 the Governor signed this landmark legislation enabling students in the state of NJ to attend community college. The Governor is a champion for New Jersey and never forgets young citizens.

“Governor Murphy has the passion and ideas needed to make NJ stronger and fairer for all” College Democrats of NJ President Emily McGrath said in a statement, “The youth vote and volunteerism is crucial to NJ’s progress and we have an opportunity to show how active young people are. We have the energy and drive to assist the Governor and hope that more students and young voters will join our efforts.”

After the rally, for folks who are unable to attend the debate but wish to watch it on Rowan’s campus, the College Democrats of Rowan and New Jersey Young Democrats will be holding a debate watch party in Robinson Hall, room 227. All participants are asked to wear a mask and follow Rowan University’s COVID-19 protocols including a same day health screening.
