Column A WNY Forward Team to Bring Safer Streets to WNY

Cirillo Administration Would Provide More Resources to the Police Department as They Prioritize Public Safety

West New York, New Jersey – April 26, 2023 – The West New York Forward Team stands to emphasize public safety as a focus that they will bring to the town once elected on May 9th. The team has a history of supporting the police force of West New York and holds great respect for all First Responders. When elected, they plan to hire many more officers to ensure that there is more coverage where crime is a concern, improve street lighting throughout town, and implement security cameras to prevent crime.

The Column A Team featuring Commissioner Cosmo A. Cirillo, Ph.D., Commissioner Margarita A. Guzman, Assemblywoman Angelica M. Jimenez, Walter Lopez, and Hiram Gonzalez have a long history of supporting the West New York Police Department with both Jimenez and Gonzalez having direct relatives serving in the force. The West New York Forward Team will make certain that they have the tools needed to execute their duties to the best of their abilities. That includes redistributing funds to hire more officers and upgrade their resources and facilities. When more officers join the department there will be a greater presence throughout town including walking and bicycle patrols. Cosmo’s Team also intends to establish a new police substation to operate as a satellite police facility, establishing neighborhood relations and gathering information to address issues.

The Column A Team wants residents to feel a sense of safety throughout town. That’s why a priority of their public safety plan includes adding more LED and flood lights all over town for better visibility in areas that are normally dark overnight as well as installing surveillance cameras to enable better security. Residents of West New York will feel safer walking the streets around town at any time when these proposals are implemented.

“Public safety is the basis of any successful community,” said Cirillo. “Angelica and Hiram have family members that are police officers, and we want the WNYPD to know we have their backs” We also want to empower residents to feel confident that they are safe when walking the streets of West New York, day or night. Through our public safety plan, we will see to it that they will.”
