Commissioner Thomas Sullivan released the following statement:

History was made recently as Elizabeth Shuler was elected President of the National AFL-CIO. I could not be more proud to be a member and representative of organized labor for occasions such as this. It has almost become cliché to use the term “breaking the glass ceiling” but this is another example that I can point out to my three daughters, and daughters everywhere, that glass ceilings are indeed breaking. It is my sincere hope that this never stops.

I wish to congratulate President Shuler on this momentous occasion and wish her nothing but success.
