Common Sense Club Announces Assemblyman Christian Barranco and Assemblywoman Beth Sawyer as Co-Prime Sponsors on New Jersey’s Parental Bill of Rights
[Red Bank, NJ]: Common Sense Club today announced that their “Parental Bill of Rights”, which is being introduced in the Assembly as a bill written by Assemblyman Christian Barranco (R-LD26) will now be co-primed by Assemblywoman Beth Sawyer (R-LD3).
The “Parental Bill of Rights” is inspired by other states who have successfully introduced parental rights bills and will serve to reassert the preeminence of the family and minimize the involvement of the government in our everyday decisions.
“There are no greater protectors, advocates or champions of children than mom and dad. However, during these last two years we have seen schools and government officials abuse the power granted to them to purposely deny parents their right to make decisions that are in the best interests of their kids”, says Assemblywoman Sawyer. “This bill is about empowering families to stand up and reclaim these fundamental rights. It’s about preserving family values. It is about our most precious God-given gifts – our children.”
“I am thrilled that my new colleague, Assemblywoman Sawyer, is joining me in this effort. I feel strongly that the reason modern American society is engaged in cancel culture and gender wars is because academia and higher education has turned racism and gender identity into an industry bent on manipulating our children”, says Assemblyman Barranco. “We need to put parents back in the position of being the primary influence in their children’s lives and bring common-sense American ideals back into our education system.”
Beyond the procedural gathering of legislative co-sponsors, Common Sense Club will invite “citizen signers” to add their name to this legislation as a show of solidarity, strength and support. The first meeting of advocacy leaders and legislators to discuss the bill will be held in Keyport on April 2nd. After that, there will be a state-wide event in addition to an online option to facilitate the gathering of those signatures, bringing average NJ people into the process so their voice is heard.
The bill is expected to be introduced in early April. It will mirror the bill which is being introduced in the Senate by Senator Mike Testa (R-LD1).
