(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Herb Conaway, Jr., M.D., (D-Burlington), chair of the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee, issued the following statement Wednesday in response to the deaths of children at The Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation due to an adenovirus outbreak.

“As a legislator and physician, I extend my deepest sympathies to the parents, other family members and friends of the children who died as a result of the adenovirus outbreak at Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Losing a loved one is painful, and I think most of us would agree that when that loved one is a child, the sorrow is even deeper.

“In addition to my condolences, I am committed to helping uncover the source of the adenovirus and determining what legislative and clinical measures can be taken to reduce future occurrences.”
