Congressman Andy Kim’s Statement on the Ceasefire Between Israel, Hezbollah, and Lebanon

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) released the following statement on the ceasefire between Israel, Hezbollah, and Lebanon.

“A ceasefire between Israel, Hezbollah, and Lebanon went into effect this morning and hopefully signifies an important step towards de-escalation and security in the Middle East. This diplomatic achievement comes after a significant degradation of Hezbollah’s capabilities and seeks to turn the page on their terror. This agreement also shows how diplomacy is a necessary tool to craft an architecture of stability that can hopefully build a durable peace along the Israel-Lebanon border, Gaza, and elsewhere. We hope the evacuated Israeli and Lebanese families who seek to return to their homes and communities can feel a greater sense of safety. Lebanon should follow this with new presidential elections that will further weaken Hezbollah’s grip.”
