Congressman Bill Pascrell Holds ‘Afternoon Of Firsts’ With CD9 Women Candidates

RUTHERFORD, NJ- Congressman Bill Pascrell (CD-9) hosted the first annual Afternoon of Action with the 2018 CD 9 Democratic Bergen Women Candidates on the ballot with him this November in an afternoon of firsts. Freeholder Tracy Zur, the first former Pascrell staffer elected in Bergen, headlined the gathering with many of the 14 women running for local office in CD 9. The majority are first time candidates like North Arlington Candidate Josie Papile and Hasbrouck Heights’ Helayne Weiss. Bergen County Chairman Lou Stellato and his wife, Linda, were there to lend support along with Senator Loretta Weinberg (LD-37), Freeholders Steve Tanelli, Mary Amoroso, Germaine Ortiz, Wood-Ridge Councilwoman Catherine Cassidy, North Arlington Councilwoman Jean Williams, Hasbrouck Heights Councilman Chris Hillmann, Ridgefield Councilman Dimitrios Kontolios, and South Hackensack BOE member Anika Davis.

 

CD 9 Women Candidates present a number of firsts. Amanda Karpinski, Carlstadt Democratic Candidate, will be the first woman elected to the Carlstadt Council if successful in November. Ridgefield Councilwoman Lauren Larkin, appointed to fill a vacancy, will be the first woman elected in Ridgefield if victorious on Election Day. In Rutherford, Maria Begg-Roberson is the the first African-African woman on the ballot in the history of the Borough and will be the first on the Council if elected.

 

Pascrell for Congress Campaign Manager Ritzy Moralez-Diaz and Director of Outreach and Operations Bernadette P. McPherson provided updates on the voter registration deadline this Tuesday, October 16th,  the new vote by mail regulations, and strategies for GOTV. Pictures below.
