Congressman Kim Announces $1.9M Grant for
Head Start Projects in Burlington County

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) announced that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $1,946,142 to the Burlington County Community Action Partnership for a four-month extension of grant programs funding head start and early education projects.

“I’m proud to announce this critical funding for these important programs for Burlington County’s families,” said Congressman Kim. “When we invest in Burlington County’s young people, we invest in our own future. I look forward to continue the fight to bring new resources back home to help keep New Jersey a great place to live and raise a family.”

In a letter to HHS Secretary Alex Azar earlier this year advocating for additional long-term funding for Burlington County education programs, Congressman Kim cited that the additional resources would allow for, “high-quality educational services to improve the learning and health outcomes of Burlington County residents.”

The funding will go towards early education programs at the Burlington County Community Action Partnership (BCCAP), which since 1966 has addressed the needs of the most vulnerable and underserved populations of Burlington County. BCCAP’s mission is centered on Civic Engagement, Early Education, and Social Services which encompasses its Head Start and Early Head Start program within three separate centers throughout the County

“The continued support for our elected officials is critical to maintaining these federal dollars within Burlington County in order to ensure our county’s most vulnerable citizens receive “quality” early education services, starting as young as six week old within our Early Head Start program,” said Dr. Ruben Johnson, Executive Director of the BCCAP. “We are grateful to the Congressman Kim for his tireless efforts and advocacy on behalf of the citizen of Burlington County.”

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Small Business. More information about Congressman Kim can be found on his website by clicking here.
