Congressman Kim Calls for Reinstatement of Navy Captain Brett Crozier
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) called for the reinstatement of Navy Captain Brett Crozier, Commanding Officer of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, who was dismissed after calling for help for thousands of crewmembers threatened by the COVID-19 virus.
“The decision to remove Captain Crozier from his command for speaking truth to power is shameful,” said Congressman Kim. “Our servicemen and women sign up and put themselves in harm’s way for the defense of our country, they shouldn’t be put in harm’s way because of indecision by leadership at the Pentagon to address a crisis that endangered thousands who wear the uniform. Dismissing him sends a dangerous message to our leaders across the military. He should be reinstated at once.”
Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, where he serves the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Readiness and as a Member of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
