Congressman Kim Holds 71st Town Hall in Hamilton Focused on Lowering Everyday Healthcare Costs

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Last Friday, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) held his 71st town hall to hear from neighbors on issues that are important to them, discuss his work in Congress, and highlight key healthcare savings that recently went into effect for New Jersey.

At his first town hall of 2024, Congressman Kim was joined by Hamilton Township Councilwoman, Nancy Phillips, for welcoming remarks, as well as Taryn Krietzman, Registered Dietician Nutritionist, Community Health/Community Education, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJUH Hamilton) who spoke about the importance and personal impact of reduced insulin costs. The conversation highlighted the Inflation Reduction Act’s progress in lowering everyday healthcare costs for New Jersey families through a $35/month cap on insulin, allowing Medicare to negotiate down the price of drugs for the first time, as well as a $166/month cap on all prescription drug costs for seniors on Medicare, a provision championed by Congressman Kim.

During the town hall, Congressman Kim also spoke with community members about his continued work to lower everyday costs across the board for more Americans, the dire implications of House Republicans’ continued chaos on the upcoming government shutdown deadline, and his continued focus on promoting good governance, community engagement, and uplifting the power of public service. The Congressman also addressed the ongoing wars in the Middle East and Europe, and the responsibility of every American to combat islamophobia, antisemitism, and any form of hate in our communities.

Congressman Kim presented a Congressional Certificate to Deep Joshi, a student at Rutgers New Brunswick, for his accomplishments representing our nation and community on the United States National Cricket Team and his work creating opportunity for professional and creative dialogue in our community as founder of TEDx Hightstown.
