Congressman Kim Statement on President Biden’s Artificial Intelligence Executive Order

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) released the following statement on President Biden’s Executive Order on managing the risks of artificial intelligence and its ongoing development.

“AI will touch every aspect of Americans’ lives as we look to the rest of the 21st century. This Executive Order by the Biden Administration is an important moment in ensuring that AI’s growth is done with the economic, national security, and privacy interests of the American people in mind. We need a whole-of-government approach that readies our federal government to seize the opportunities of AI and be prepared to handle its challenges. We need Congress to step up and pass a bipartisan data privacy bill to protect all Americans, especially children. We need a full-court-press of our diplomatic power to bring allies and partners into smart policies that allows the U.S., and not our competitors, to set global standards. And we need to ensure that we have the workforce of the future – both domestic and high-skilled immigrants – to continue to be at the forefront of this technology and bring new opportunities to New Jersey families. I stand ready to work alongside the Biden Administration and members from both parties in Congress on these issues and to deliver on the incredible promise these technologies can bring to the American people.”

Congressman Kim is the Ranking Member on the Military Personnel Subcommittee, and a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
