Congressman Payne Raises Over $220,000 in Final Quarter of 2021

Large Fundraising Haul and $400,000 Cash on Hand Positions the Congressman for Strong Re-Election Campaign

NEWARK, NJ – U.S. Representative Donald Payne, Jr., (D-Newark) raised over $220,000 in the fourth quarter of 2021, a substantial sum that positions the veteran Congressman for a strong re-election campaign. Payne for Congress has over $400,000 cash on hand as the campaign begins to ramp up its fundraising efforts in anticipation of the 2022 election.

“As a fighter for the people and a public servant I’ve always been more concerned with delivering results than about raising money, however, I’m grateful this strong fundraising quarter reflects the high level of support for our campaign,” said Congressman Payne. “I want to thank everyone who donated in this quarter and helped make this result possible. At this critical time, when there is so much work that must be done in Washington, the people of the 10th Congressional District need a representative with the experience to deliver the resources our communities need.”

Congressman Payne’s total fourth quarter fundraising haul of $222,646 covers the period from October 1 to December 31 of last year. The amount is nearly four times what Congressman Payne raised in the previous quarter, a sure sign that the campaign’s fundraising operation is ramping up significantly.

“Congressman Payne understands the challenges that hard working families of the 10th Congressional District face because he has never lost sight of who he is or where he comes from, having grown up in the South Ward of Newark,” said Rasheida Smith, spokesperson for Congressman Payne’s campaign. “From providing an exemplary level of constituent service, to helping people survive the pandemic by fighting to pass relief efforts like the Child Tax Credit and stimulus funding, to overseeing the largest investments in our infrastructure in a generation, Congressman Payne is always working for the people — and that’s exactly what he will continue to do.”

Congressman Payne was recently endorsed by the New Jersey Education Association and the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association, and his campaign will be releasing additional endorsements from labor organizations, elected officials and advocacy groups in the coming weeks.
